Imminent large-scale ISR-Strike Integration Demonstration using UAVs― Apr 29, 2026

As part of the five-year defense plan from the 9th Party Congress, North Korea is expected to conduct large-scale tests of the upgraded Saetbyul-4 recon UAV and new attack drones. This marks a transition toward an integrated ISR-Strike complex, allowing for real-time surveillance and precision strikes. Inspired by the Battle of Kursk, this strategy focuses on low-cost, high-efficiency ‘attrition warfare’. It involves Special Operations Forces (SOF) infiltrating and deploying swarms of cheap suicide drones to neutralize high-value targets. This approach effectively offsets North Korea’s weak conventional air power and signals that its military technology is rapidly diversifying into multi-domain environments.
