Sinuiju Update #3: Preparation for Large-scale Construction activities at Uiju Airfield ― Nov 19, 2025
written by SI Analytics
Kim Jong Un has recently visited Sinuiju monthly since August of this year which is a highly unusual level of activity, especially considering public reports only covered the construction of the Wiha-do Greenhouse Farm. However, after his last visit in mid-October, large-scale accommodation facilities for construction workers, numerous construction equipment, and military trucks were detected at the nearby Uiju Airfield. Considering that there is no existing construction demand at this base, it appears that large-scale construction activities requiring ten thousand soldiers are being prepared within the airfield. This could potentially be preparatory work for the introduction of Russian fighter jets, a matter in which Kim Jong Un showed significant interest during his visit to Russia in September 2023.
Following the recent deployment of North Korean troops to Russia, and amidst the high likelihood of Russia transferring space technology and providing additional cutting-edge fighter jets, continuous attention is needed regarding the future development of these.
