Kim Jong Un has stated that two new destroyers will be deployed each year, and the Nampo Shipyard has pledged to construct a Choi Hyun-class destroyer by October 10 of next year. Therefore, the Chongjin Shipyard on the East Sea is considered a key base among Kim Jong Un’s strategic assets, and this presents an opportunity to quickly upgrade the facility, construct a new warship, and demonstrate Kim’s leadership. Going forward, the Chongjin Shipyard is expected to adopt more efficient launch methods and resume the construction of new destroyers soon by utilizing its existing infrastructure and skilled workforce.
